SKIN CARE: ACNE
No matter what your skin type is, a daily skin care routine can help you maintain overall skin health and improve specific concerns like acne, scarring, and dark spots.
Start with a basic and simple routine to see how your skin reacts. Once you’re comfortable, you can then add extra products such as exfoliants, masks, and spot treatments to boost your skin’s health.
Acne is a one of the most common skin condition where the pores of your skin gets blocked by hair, sebum (an oily substance), bacteria and dead skin cells. Those blockages produce blackheads, whiteheads, nodules and other types of pimples.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ACNE?
Open bumps on the skin that fill with excess oil and dead skin. They look as if dirt has deposited in the bump, but the dark spots are actually caused by an irregular light reflection off the clogged follicle.
Bumps that remain closed by oil and dead skin.
Small red or pink bumps that become inflamed.
Pimples containing pus. They look like whiteheads surrounded by red rings. They can cause scarring if picked or scratched.
Fungal acne (pityrosporum folliculitis):
This type occurs when an excess of yeast develops in the hair follicles. They can become itchy and inflamed.
Solid pimples that are deep in your skin. They are large and painful.
Pus-filled pimples. These can cause scars.
WHAT CAUSES ACNE/ BREAKOUT?
Acne occurs when the pores of your skin become blocked with oil, dead skin, or bacteria. Each pore of your skin is the opening to a follicle.
The follicle is made up of a hair and a sebaceous (oil) gland. The oil gland releases sebum (oil), which travels up the hair, out of the pore, and onto your skin. The sebum keeps your skin lubricated and soft.
1) OVER HYDRATE - using layers of hydrating serum, toner, moisturiser, cleanser / cleansing oil which leaves residue causing tiny bumps
2) OVER EXFOLIATE - cause symptoms such as rashes, dryness, redness, and feels tighten on the skin
3) UNDER EXFOLIATE - skin feels dull, rough and a lot of tiny bumps
4) HORMONAL IMBALANCE - mostly from lifestyle and some need to take medication too.
